MID CENTURY UPGRADE
Mid-century upgrade
This project began with a house that had good structure but no identity — a mid‑century form that time had softened, blurred, and left without intention. The owners wanted more than a facelift. They wanted a home that finally expressed the architecture they always sensed beneath the surface.
So the transformation started at the bones.
We re‑established the mid‑century lines with new windows, a re‑proportioned entry, and a clean, modern color palette that brought clarity back to the façade. Custom ironwork — numbering, railings, and architectural accents — added the crisp geometry that defines the era. Warm woodwork balanced the steel, giving the home a grounded, human touch.
Outside, the landscape became an extension of the architecture. Horizontal slat fencing, concrete walkways, and elevated decking created a sequence of outdoor rooms that feel intentional and connected. The planting palette stayed true to mid‑century principles: structured, sculptural, and low‑water, with bold forms that hold their own against the clean lines of the house.
What emerged is a home that finally feels complete — a mid‑century silhouette sharpened, modernized, and brought fully into the present. A place where architecture, craftsmanship, and landscape speak the same language.
